点击右边的quick guide最后一项，进入IPDL专利与商标库
选择第一项进入，检索专利与实用新型，看红部分，点击进入。 进入日本工业知识产权库，会发现分为专利与实用新型、商标、外观设计的分类。另外还有数据库内容介绍，一般有各数据库包含的专利数量、年限等的介绍。一般我们使用较多的是专利与实用新型那一大块。列有四种检索方式和地图指南。
二、对于所列的四种检索方式中，第一和第二实质上都是采用的专利号检索，因此基本内容是
一致的，不过第一个库可以同时检12条，而第二个库最多一次可同时检五条。另外第一个库要自己填kind code，而第二个库则是用下拉菜单选择。现我们进入第一个，Patent & Utility Model Gazette DB ，界面如下：
(1) 这里就需要注意，看清楚前面的说明，日本专利前面有一个类型代码kind code ，这是用来说明专利类型的，日本的专利和实用新型中A 表示已正式出版的专利申请，U 表示实用新型申请，B 表示已通过审查的专利，Y 表示已通过审查的实用新型，此外还有A1、N1、I 、C 等，请看表格内的说明及实例。一般来说，用A 和U 的最多。如现有一专利号，JP,11-038413,A(1999)，后面的A 就表示为专利。这个代码一定要输，最多两位，如果不输，将提示出错。永远检索不到结果。我在这地方折腾了老半天。
(2) 现在要输专利号了，就是那个Number, 这个时候日本专利的特点就出来了，你必须换算年代。之前我一直搞不太清楚范例中那些H02、S54是什么东西，最开始以为是kind code ，其实不是，这是将日本的纪年编成的代码。从1989年起纪年全部用H 来表示，这就是为什么JP,11-038413,A(1999)，不要以为
是11年的，实际是1999，从表中可以看出。同样，专利JP 72-35415，如果你直接用72-35415是查不到的，你得把72年换算，得出结果应为S47-35415，这样你在数据库中才能到该专利。JP,47-035415,A(1972)，可以看到，而如果你用S72-35415则会不停地提示出错，因为这个纪年到S64就结束了，S72显然超出了这个范围。日本的专利号非常复杂，这一部分我们在后面还会讨论到。

(6) 看右边提示可知点击左边的专利号，出现图像格式的专利全文，可用另存为的方式下载图像全文。
(7) 右下角为翻页按钮，较早的专利文献扫描文本质量较差。80年代中期以后的大部分具有中英文两个版本，且英文为HTML格式，可以直接在网上COPY，也可显示图像格式的DETAIL。这样可根据给出的分类号查同族的相关英文专利。下图为1999年的JP,11-038413,A(1999)结果。
