1 GENERAL P ARAMETERS
A brief description for method statements of waterproofing is documented below which explaining
materials,  equipment  and works  execution for waterproofing application in Basement 7 raft foundation and MRT raft foundation for Indonesia 1 Project.
2 GCP PRODUCT SELECTION
Apply GCP waterproof membrane products and accessories to project areas as follows:
1) Bottom slab
- Preprufe® Plus
GCP Preprufe® Plus waterproof membrane is a composite sheet comprising a robust virgin HDPE backing, a pressure sensitive adhesive, and a trafficable weather resistant coating plus dual adhesive Preprufe ZipLapTM for increased security and practicability at overlap.
2) Diaphragm Wall and Kingpost Protrusions
- Swellseal Mastic® (gun grade swellable waterstop) àprocured and installed by Main Contractors as had been done for joint at the capping beam.
- GCP Swellseal® Mastic is a one component, polyurethane based, solvent free, hydro-swelling mastic.
- Supplied in cartridges and aluminium sausages for the sealing of irregular profile such as king post.
- Swellseal® Mastic cures and swells in the presence of moisture. Swellseal® Mastic will become firm in 24-36 Hours
3) Form fillets to Bore pile turn-ups, D-wall rebar penetrations, D-wall turn-ups, and plinths.
- Bituthene® Liquid Membrane.偶合常数

GCP Bituthene® Liquid Membrane are two component asphalts modified urethanes and used in conjunction with Bituthene Sheet waterproofing membranes as a detailing aid eg. sealing material at terminations, penetrations, etc
4)    Gutter
- Betec Seal®
GCP Betec Seal, a two component Green Label accredited cementitious waterproofing membrane, permanent, slightly flexible coating waterproofing and resists both positive and negative water pressure.
3 EXECUTION OF WORKS
During installation of the Preprufe Plus waterproofing system for this 7-floor top down basement construction, make sure that Main Contractor provides sufficient ventilations, exhaust fans, lights and scaffold (especially for lift pit wall) for the workers to work well. Electricity, water, and temporary warehouse should be provided before and during application.
3.1  Handover of  Concrete Slab  and  Wall  before Waterproofing Applied  (Main  Contractors’
Responsibilities)
1).  Bore pile head had been cut off to level of 50mm from lean concrete level. Concrete surface of
xx门bore pile head shall be dense, no cracks, or loose aggregate, no honeycombs.
2).  Diaphragm wall / D-wall surface shall be free from dust, dirt, soils or other contaminants, dry,
dense, no cracks, or honeycombs.
3).  Brickwork wall surface at lift pit area shall be vertical aligned, no gaps.
4).  Lean concrete surface should be sound concrete, no sharp objects, uniform with no gaps or voids
greater than 12mm. Where gaps exist, fill with material of sufficient strength to support the membrane.
3.2  Preprufe® Plus
·Substrate Preparation
- Horizontal substrates should be smooth prepared lean concrete, uniform with no gaps or voids greater than 12mm. Vertical wall should be concrete, plywood, or other approved facing to sheet piling to provide support to the membrane. If use bricks wall, make sure already strong and vertical aligned for Preprufe Plus fastened using nails.
- All substrates must be free of loose aggregate and sharp protrusions. Where possible, avoid sloping or rounded concrete blinding.
-  Grout around the penetration prior to installing the membrane for stabilization.
-  The surface does not need to be dry, but standing water must be removed.
·Application
- General:
Preprufe Plus membranes membranes are supplied in rolls 1.17 m wide including the Preprufe ZipLap incorporating dual adhesive layers with colored zip strips at the top and bottom of the seam area on the edge of the roll. The zip strips keep the lap area clean and dry until the moment the ZipLap is made and enables even stronger bonded laps between adjacent rolls. Both zip strips cover
an aggressive adhesive. Once the green zip strip on the top of the membrane and the blue zip strip on the bottom of the membrane are removed, a strong adhesive to adhesive bond is achieved in the overlap area. Preprufe Tape should be applied to clean dry surfaces and the
release liner must be removed immediately after application
- Installation:
A.  Horizontal
1).  Place the membrane with the green zip strip facing towards the concrete pour.
2).  Kick out or roll out the membrane with HDPE film side to the substrate. End laps should be
staggered to avoid a build up of layers.
3).  Leave green and blue zip strips on the membrane until overlap procedure is completed.
4).  Accurately position succeeding sheets to overlap the previous sheet 75 mm along the marked
selvedge with the blue zip strip on top of the green zip strip.
5).  Ensure the underside of the succeeding sheet is clean, dry and free from contamination before

attempting to overlap.
6). Peel back and remove both the green and blue zip strips in the overlap area to achieve an
adhesive to adhesive bond at the overlap. Ensure a continuous bond is achieved without creases and roll firmly with a heavy roller. On completion of the installation, ensure complete removal of the plastic zip strips from all overlaps and tape
B.  Vertical
1).  Apply membrane with the HDPE film facing the prepared smooth lean concrete or plastered

d edge to vertical substrate with large head nails or staples @ 500mm C/C. Fastening can be made through the selvedge using a small and low profile fastener so that the membrane lays flat and allows firmly rolled overlaps.
2).  Leave green and blue zip strips on the membrane until overlap procedure is completed.
3).  Accurately position succeeding sheets to overlap the previous sheet 75 mm along the marked
selvedge.
4). Peel back and remove both the green and blue zip strips in the overlap area to achieve an
adhesive to adhesive bond at the overlap. Ensure a continuous bond is achieved without creases and roll firmly with a heavy roller. On completion of the installation, ensure complete removal of the plastic zip strips from all overlaps and tape.
