正:T he populatio n of the city is nearly one millio n.正:T he amount of the populatio n in the city is nearly one million.
析:population 是人口的总称，不指一个个的人，其前不能用表示具体数量的词修饰。populatio n 用作主语时，谓语动词应为单数形式。 说人口的多少，习惯上使用“have a po pulation of ...”或“the amount of the populatio n in ...is ...”。2.这个城镇百分之二十的人口是做生意的。
