Abstract : Flexible bea/ng is an impodant part of a harmouic gear whucer. In order to study the failure chamcter- istics of Uexible Ua/ngs : a special testing machine peUorming fahgue OP experiments Pr Uexible bea/ngs was dse/peU. The loading device of this testing machine can rotate with the inner ring of the Uexible bea/ng and ap ply loads at both ends of the major axis of the oxter dny syuchwnonsly. Several failure phenomena of Uexible bea/ngs were obsewed Uy the fatigue bfe experiments with Pnr sets of Uexible bea/ngs. The width , depth and suUace roughness of the raceways were measured after the experiments. The expe/mental results showed that wear and fahgue spal/ny behavior aupeawd ouly at the end of the major axis of the inner dnys : and fatigue fracture and spalbny might occor ou the oxter rings .
