课程性质：《英语口语》课程是商务英语、旅游英语、应用英语和旅游管理等专业的专业技能基础课程。通过课堂内外的英语口语操练，培养学生运用流利、地道的英语表达思想，逐步提高学生用英语进行口头交际的能力。 课程目标：通过本课程的学习，学生做到正确表达思想，语音、语调自然、无重大语法错误，语言基本得体，提高其英语沟通能力。

知识目标：
本课程的教学内容广泛，既涉及英美国家社会生活的各个方面，日常会话句型涉及邀请、请求和提供帮助、警告和要求、表示关心和同情、同意与反对、失望与遗憾、鼓励与惊讶、责备和赞美、可能性与不可能性、兴趣与喜好、条件与妥协等等。学生通过学习，掌握有关日常生活话题的英语表达以及英语国家的文化。打下良好的语音、语调基础，培养较好的英语语感。 技能目标：
通过针对各种话题的学习和操练，引导学生独立思考和讨论中，使其能就社会生活一般性话题进行连贯的发言，掌握日常会话句型，不断提高英语表达能力。
素质目标：
培养学生良好的口语交际和沟通能力，树立诚实守信、求真务实的职业道德观念，养成表达准确，发音清晰的良好习惯，培养积极思维和创新思维的意识。
