Abstract The application of in-situ Raman spectroscopy, particularly surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS), in electrochemistry is reviewed, including electrosorption, electroplating, corrosion, conducting polymers, batteries and nonaqueous media. Recent work on extending Raman study to transition metal surfaces as well as semiconductor surfaces are also outlined. The current advance in SERS study and the prospectus are also given.
