This study aims to investigate the impact of game-based learning to cultivate high school students' computational thinking practice in Artificial Intelligence (AI) courses. To accomplish this research, the researcher adopted experimental design, with 148 high school students as the research subjects. Two professional domain learning games were conducted with the purpose to test the efficiency of game-based learning to cultivate high s
chool students' computational thinking practice, one in a video game form and the other in an adventure game form. The results showed that both game forms can facilitate the development of learners' high-efficacy computational thinking practice, with the game-based learning based on adventure game being more effective in enhancing the computational thinking ability of high school students. Moreover, this study pointed out that fostering computational thinking ability is beneficial to high school students in learning and applying their AI knowledge and skills, thus improving their learning ability and learning outcomes.
