My city, Amman, is the capital of Jordan It's a modern city with lots of things to do. I'm going to take you to the Dead Sea. But we can't swim because it's too salty. We can only float We'll also visit the beautiful Gilead 're going to love the local food. My favourite dish is mensaf. It's a lamb in yoghurt sauce with rice.
We're going to spend two days in the ancient city of Petra. It's a beautiful city built of pink and red rock. It is sometimes called the"rose-red city". The rocks look different colours in the evening. Many of its old buildings were carved out of rock.

Have you heard of Jerash It's got 2000-year-old Roman ruins(废虚）.There's a festival in July and we're going. Singers, musicians and actors come from all over the world to perform in the Roman Theatre. I went there last year,it's fantastic. In Jerash there are bridges, gates,baths,squares and fountains to see.

Hi Dez!
Well, I've been here 1 two weeks already and still can't believe I'm a student at Oxford University at last!Anyway, so far it's going really well. This week I've been meeting all the
different lecturers, I've also met my personal tutor(私人教师）.Every student has one-someone they can go to with problems, talk about their work with and that kind of thing. Mine is called Rosie Frish and I've already 2 to her twice about different things. She's given me some good advice and I like her a lot.
Everything here is very 3 my school in China. The lessons (they're calle lectures here) are all one hour or one and a half hours long. And we have to write down the things we think are important-not like at school where the 4 tell you what to write down .

As you know, I'm studying English history here. And there's 5 thing-we don't start early every morning like at school. I've got two mornings a week when I don't have 6 lectures at all .

Recently I paid a visit to Harvard University, which is one of the most f 1 universities in the world.
Harvard's main buildings are from the 18th century. They 1 2 very old and simple. You mi
ght even say they're a little old. They don't fit the modern idea of university at all. The buildings are surrounded by grass and trees, so I felt as if I had w 3 into a medieval castle(中世纪的城堡）. But when I looked across the street,busy shops and in-fashion students made me feel like I was in the 21st century again.
