摘 要：在中国文化蓬勃发展的今天，典籍外译仍是弘扬中国文化的有效途径之一。但因中西方文化差异的存在，文化负载词成为外译的难点。《论语》是体现中华文化的重要典籍，其中包含大量文化负载词。本文以辜鸿铭的译本为例，分析《论语》中五类文化负载词的翻译方法。研究表明，辜氏把目标文本读者定位为英美人士，以传播中国思想文化精髓为主要目的；为此，他主要采用省译、替换和归化加注的翻译策略，这对典籍外译具有重要启示。关键词：文化空缺；文化负载词；《论语》；辜鸿铭；翻译策略

(School of Tra nslation Studies,Qufu Normal University,Rizhao,Shandong 276826) Abstract:Today,as Chinese culture is booming, translation of Chinese classics remains an effective way to promote Chinese culture. However, the existence of cultural difference between China and western countries makes culture-loaded words a difficulty in translation. As an important classic reflecting Chinese culture, The Analects of Confucius is charged with many culture-loaded words. Based on Gu Hongming’s translation, this paper analyzes the translation methods for the five types of culture-loaded words in The Analects of Confucius. The study shows that having positioned target readers as native English speakers, Gu Hongming mainly adopts such translation strategies as omission, replacement and domestication with annotation to promote the essence of Chinese ideology and culture, which is an enlightenment for the translation of Chinese classics.
