The boy lifted the last bag onto his shoulder, and flashed a bright smile. “I guess this is it,” he said. “I’ll see you back home in a month, okay?” His parents nodded, and they watched as he walked out of sight into the crowds of hundreds of students and parents. The boy’s mother turned to the dog, “Okay, Poppy, time to go back home.”
The house seemed quiet as a tomb without the boy living there. All that week, Poppy didn’t seem interested in her dinner, her favorite toy, or even in her daily w alk. Her owners were sad too, but they knew their son would be back to visit. Poppy didn’t.
They offered the dog some of her favorite peanut butter treats. They even let her sit on the sofa, but the old girl just wasn’t her usual cheerful self. Her owners started to get worried. “What should we do to cheer Poppy up?” asked Dad. “We’ve tried everything.”
“I have an idea, but it might be a little crazy,” smiled Mom. “Without anybody left in the house but us, this place could use a bit of fun. Let’s get a litt le dog for Poppy.
It didn’t take long before they walked through the front door carrying a big box. Poppy welcomed them home as usual but when she saw the box, she stopped. She put her nose on it. Her tail began wagging(摆动)ever so slowly, then faster as she caught the smell.

2020年1月浙江省高考英语读后续写题目一出,教师们谈的最多的是如何描写狗狗的神态、动作等。对考生而言,如果读过甚至积累过这方面的语言当然是一件幸运的事。但如果接触不多或者没有积累过这方面的语言该怎么办?狗狗的神态、动作等细节描写在考场上是造不出来的。如果生搬硬套,可能会适得其反。
本次续写文本讲述的是一个高中毕业生the boy要离开家去外面上大学。他与家人告别的伤心之情是显而易见的,同时对狗狗Poppy也有更多的不舍。离开家后,Poppy失去了往日的快乐。无论父母采取什么措施都无济于事。最后妈妈想了一个好办法,给Poppy买了一只小狗做伴,希望它能够恢复往日的欢乐。结果如何呢?这是要求考生续写的部分。
3.思路梳理
续写情节构建的思路:
根据上述的文本大意,可以推断出新狗狗到达后的两种结果:
1.在新狗狗的陪伴下Poppy恢复了往日的快乐;
2.Poppy因为the boy的离开依然很孤独,不能与新狗狗和谐相处。
那么考生该怎么写呢?

从以上对文本的解读分析结合两个段首句可以推测续写的主要情节:
slm第一段:主要写新狗狗的到来给家里带来的变化,尤其是Poppy所产生的变化。主要突出两个变化:The house seemed quiet as a tomb与新狗狗到达后the quiet house was filled with fun again的鲜明对比;the old girl just wasn’t her usual cheerful self与新狗狗到达后They are playing so happily的鲜明对比。本段可以增加的细节描写包括:对新狗狗适当的外貌,动作描写;Poppy的反应、父母的反应及家庭气氛的变化等。

Dad opened the box and a sweet little dog appeared. Coated with brown curly hair, it looked everywhere, eyes sparkling with curiosity and a little uneasiness. When Poppy approached, it backed a bit. Dad knelt down, gently stroking its curly hair and comforting, “No worry, you will get used to the new family.”His magical words seemed to lessen its anxiety. Meanwhile, Poppy’s eyes were full of eagerness and excitement. Early next morning, the noise of dogs wakened them. Mom threw on clothes and rushed out. “You guess what?”She screamed, “They are playing so happily”. Since then, the quiet house was filled with fun again and the parents finally burst out a sign of relief.
A few weeks later,the boy arrived home from university. For several weeks he had been picturing Poppy’s lonely and miserable life and exhilarated eyes upon seeing him. Entering the house, howev
er, he was surprised to find playing so cheerfully on the floor were just his Poppy and another dog, completely absorbed in their happy world. Then he felt a gentle pat on his shoulder.
