巴特勒《图书馆学导论》中译本导言

*本文是为谢欢所译巴特勒《图书馆学导论》写的导言，王子舟执笔，张歌协助完成。

摘要巴特勒的《图书馆学导论》（1933年）利用哲学、社会学、教育学、心理学、历史学等理论来阐述图书馆学的基本命题，揭示书籍、图书馆的本质及其功能，探讨了图书馆学的基本原理，剖析了现代图书馆学的研究领域和研究方法。该书作为图书馆学理论著述，虽然已经出版80多年，但对当今的图书馆学研究仍有指导意义。在谢欢翻译的中译本出版之前介绍巴特勒的生平、撮述《图书馆学导论》的精义，有助于阅读、理解这部经典著作。
