摘 要
弗雷德里克·特曼是美国著名的教育思想家与教育管理者,被后人誉为“硅谷之父”。他曾担任过斯坦福大学系主任、学院院长、教务长、副校长等职。在斯坦福在大学工作期间,他勇于改革、大胆创新,倡导“学术尖顶”思想和“技术学者社区”思想,并努力将其付诸于实践,促使斯坦福大学进入到一个新的发展
阶段,并且成就了硅谷。本文重点介绍弗雷德里克·特曼高等教育思想的重要内容及其实践,总结其特点,希望对我国的高等教育改革有所启示与借鉴。
论文主要包括三个部分:碎片拼接
第一部分介绍弗雷德里克·特曼的生平及高等教育思想的形成背景
第二部分分析弗雷德里克·特曼高等教育思想及实践。他的高等教育思想概括为“学术尖顶思想”与“技术学者社区思想”。学术尖顶思想主要体现在吸引尖顶人才、把有条件的系科打造成学术尖顶、跨学科合作与融合及注重基础课程建设;技术学者社区思想主要体现在创立斯坦福工业园、孵化硅谷、协助成立惠普公司、实施荣誉合作计划与产业从属计划、鼓励师生创业。
第三部分总结弗雷德里克·特曼高等教育思想的特征及影响。其特征主要包括注重人才招聘与人才培养、注重学校定位与学科发展、倡导产学研结合观与弘扬大学的社会服务职能观。

Abstract
Frederick Emmons Terman is an excellent educational thinker and educational administrator in America,he is regarded as “the father of Silicon Valley”.at Stanford University,He was executive head of the Electrical Engineering Department,Dean of the School of Engineering,Provost,Vice-President.During this period,He has the courage to reform and has the courage to innovate.He propose ideas of “Steeple Building ”and ”Community of Technical Scholars ”.He made great efforts to put into practice. It made Stanford University go to a new stage and the rise of Silicon Valley.Based on elaborate data ,this research will focus on Frederick Emmons Terman,s ideas and practice of high education,conclude the characteristic.I hope to provide the reform of high education in china with experience.

The first part intruduce Frederick Emmons Terman’s life story and the formation of his ideas.
The second part analyzes Frederick Emmons Terman’s ideas and practice of high education.His high education ideas can be sumed up as “steeple building ”and ”a community of technical scholars ”.The former reflected in four aspects:attract competent person,make competent disciplines,crossdisciplinenary cooperation,pay attention to core courses;The latter reflected in five a
spects:establish Stanford park,incubate Silicon Valley,help to found HP,carry out Honors Cooperative Program and Industrial Affiliates Program, encourage teachers and students to be entrepreneur.
The three part conclude the features and influence of Frederick Emmons Terman’s ideas and practice of high education.The features contain lay emphasis on recruit and foster competent person , lay emphasis on the development location of school and the discipline, propose industry-academia cooperation ,advance and enrich universities' social service function,
