今天，我们来到了位于北京北部延庆县境内的八达岭长城游玩，想登上长城，亲眼看一看这一雄伟的历史丰碑，实现我的“好汉梦”。
这一带山峦起伏，多险峰峻岭，离北京市区70多公里。
我本来是想爬上长城的，但不巧的是下起大雨来了，我们只好坐滑车上山了。
乘上滑车，就依着长城脚慢吞吞地向上行驶，仿佛是一条穿梭在森林中的巨蜥，掠过一个个路障向前行进。
走下滑车，我们已经站在长城的峰火台口，由于游览人太多，我拼命地往上挤。
我挤出洞口向四周眺望，长城像一条巨龙横卧在连绵起伏的山上，真是雄伟啊！据介绍城墙的基部全部用花岗岩条石筑成，城墙高8.5米（平均高度为7.8米），下宽为6.5米，上宽是5.7米，可以五马并行。
城上两旁有矮墙，名叫宇墙，外侧的墙又叫堞墙，高1.7米，上面有垛口，是巡逻放哨了望用的。
