中南海事件2011年1月，香港科技大学陈荣开教授受杜维明教授邀请成为高等人文研究院访问学者。 陈荣开(Charles Wing-Hoi Chan)，香港科技大学人文学部副教授，是朱熹研究的专家。应杜维明教授之邀来高等人文研究院访学一年，期间参与学术研究并负责主办朱熹相关的学术会议。摇滚年
January 2011, Prof. Tu Weiming invited Charles Wing-Hoi Chan, Assistant Professor at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology to serve as IAHS’s Visiting Scholar for the duration of 12 months.
Charles Wing-Hoi Chan, Assitant Professor at the Division of Humanities, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology is an expert in Zhu Xi’s philosophy of neo-Confucianism. He served as IAHS’s Visiting Scholar from January to December 2011. During his visit, Prof. Chan would organize an academic conference related to the study of Zhu Xi.
2011年1月9日，高等人文研究院举办了“21世纪文化中国与媒体”工作坊本次活动由杜维明院长发起，知名文化人、三联出版社前总编辑、中国文化论坛董事长董秀玉主持，邀请了相关学者、媒体人、公共知识分子，探讨了对文化中国媒体的意义与作用。 9 January 2011, IAHS organize the “Cultural China and Media in the 21st Century” workshop.

The workshop was initiated by Prof. Tu Weiming and organize by Dong Xiuyu, former editor in chief of SDX Joint Press, chair of the China Culture Forum. The workshop invited related scholars, representatives from media and public intellectuals to discuss the significance of media to the development of cultural China as a conceptual reality.
2011年3月20日，第二次儒学与人权工作坊由高等人文研究院发起。
本次活动由杜维明院长发起，中国人民大学梁涛教授主持，邀请了校内外哲学、政治学、宗教学界知名学者参加共同探讨儒学对中国人权的现代性意义。
20 March 2011, IAHS organized the second “Confucianism and Human Rights” workshop.
The workshop was initiated by Prof. Tu Weiming and organized by Prof. Liang Tao of the Renmin University of China. The workshop invited key scholars in the disciplines of philosophy, political theory, and comparative religion to discuss the importance of Confucianism to China’s development of human rights.
2011年3与24日，高等人文研究承办美国康奈尔大学政治学系彼得 J. 卡赞斯坦（Peter J. Katzenstein）组织的大型国际研讨会“中国化：超越东西方的文明进程”（Sinicization: Civilizational Processes beyond East and West）。
会议邀请了海内外国际关系、政治学、人文学知名学者参加，加强了中美两国学者对文明对话与共处的理解。
彼得 J. 卡赞斯坦（Peter J. Katzenstein）是美国康奈尔大学政治学系Walter S. Carpenter Jr. 国际研究讲席教授（Walter S. Carpenter, Jr. Professor of International Studies ）。
24 March 2011, IAHS co-sponsored international workshop “Sinicization: Civilizational Processes beyond East and West”, organized by Prof. Peter J. Katzenstein of Cornell University
The workshop invited relevant scholars in the fields of international relations, politics, and the humanities to promote scholarly exchange between China and United States.
Peter J. Katzenstein is the Walter S. Carpenter Jr. Professor of International Studies at Cornell University.

2011年4月24日，高等人文研究院参与了燕京大学校友返校日活动。
会中，高等人文研究院代表做出了燕京中心筹备方面的报告，表示高等人文研究院全力开展燕京大学校史、校友及人文精神研究的意愿。燕京中心（筹）主任为夏晓虹教授。
24 April 2011, IAHS participated in the Annual Alumni Reunion of Yenching
University.
During the Annual Alumni Reunion of Yenching University, representatives of IAHS presented reports on the preparation of the Yenching Center. The center will focus on research of the history and people of Yenching University and promote its humanistic spirit. The proposed director of the new center is Prof. Xia Xiaohong of
the Department of Chinese Language and Literature, Peking University.
2011年6月1日，高等人文研究院邀请美国青树教育基金会（Evergreen Education Foundation）主席赵耀渝教授来我院开展讲座。
会议中，主讲人与北大师生共同探讨了公益、科技、与人文精神实践等议题，加强了我校师生对教育公益实践的认识。
赵耀渝（Faith Chao）为美国金门大学（Golden State University）数学系教授，从1994年开始关注中国农村图书馆建设工作，在2001年成立青树教育基金会（Evergreen Education Foundation），已在中国农村地区建立了近四十所图书馆，并得到了美国盖茨基金会的支持与嘉奖。

sent lecture.
During the lecture, Prof. Faith Chao discussed topics of community service, technology and the practice of humanism in pubic service to promote a better understanding of nonprofit work on education.
Faith Chao is professor of mathematics at Golden State University. Since 1994, she has been actively working on building libraries in rural China. She founded the Evergreen Education Foundation in 2001, and has built nearly 40 libraries in rural areas in China, receiving support and awards from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
2011年6月7日，高等人文研究院邀请挪威奥斯陆大学东方语言文化系鲁纳（Rune Svarverud）来我院访问并就“东亚的学习文明”话题开展讲座。
讲座探讨了东方文明的共通性及特殊性，突出了“学习”作为东方文化精
神的中心性。
鲁纳（Rune Svarverud）为挪威奥斯陆大学（University of Oslo）东方文化语言系教授、系主任。
7 June 2011, IAHS invited Prof. Rune Svarverud, Head of Research of East Asian Studies at the University of Oslo to visit and present a lecture on “The Culture of Learning in East Asia”.
The workshop discussed commonality and differences among East Asian civilizations and emphasized learning as a central idea in East Asian cultures.
Rune Svarverud is the head of research of East Asian Studies at the Department of Cultural Studies and Oriental Languages, University of Oslo.

2011年6月16日、17日、20日，高等人文研究院邀请香港中文大学新亚书院卢雪昆教授就孔子与康德哲学进行三次学术讲座。
讲座就儒学与康德哲学之间共通点进行了深入探讨，受到了北京大学师生的热烈欢迎。
虎鼬卢雪昆为香港中文大学新亚书院教授，为第二代新儒家代表牟宗三的学生，长年从事于儒学与康德哲学的研究。
16 – 20 June 2011, IAHS invited Prof. Lo Suet-kwan, Professor at Chinese University of Hong Kong, to present three lectures on Confucianism and Kantian philosophy.
The three lectures thoroughly discussed similarities between Confucianism and Kantian philosophy, following the work of the late Mou Zongsan. They were well received by the scholars and students of Peking University.
Dr. Lo Suet-kwan is a professor at the New Asia College, Chinese University of Hong Kong. As a student to the late Mou Zongsan, key promoter of New Confucianism, Prof. Lo’s expertise is Confucianism and Kantian philosophy.
