据《湖北专利统计快报》消息，2017年湖北文理学院发明专利申请为373件，申请总量为692项，发明授权为27件，授权总量为126件，发明专利申请坪联湖北省高校第九名。

此外，根据“2017年 1 -12月湖北省企业发明专利排名T O P200”“2017年 1 -12月湖北省科研单位发明申请排行表T O P20”以及“2017年 1 - 12月湖北省医院发明专利申请排行表T O P20”，湖北文理学院发明专利授权首次位居襄阳市第一名。
