Good afternoon, everyone, It’s my great pleasure to be here sharing my lesson with you. The content of my lesson is Unit 1 Advertising, Module 4, Oxford English. I divide my teaching design into six parts. They are analysis of the teaching material, analysis of students, teaching methods and teaching aids, learning methods, teaching procedures, and blackboard design. First, let me talk about the teaching material.
Part 1 Analysis of teaching materials
  In this lesson, students will read a passage which talks about advertisements. By reading it, the students will know more about advertisements and express their own opinions on it. At the same time, let the students learn how to read expository writings. This lesson plays an important part in this unit. As we all know, reading belongs to the input during the process of the language learning. The input has great effect on output , such as speaking and writing . And it is also the basis to learn the other parts of this unit well.
According to the new standard curriculum and the syllabus (课程标准教学大纲), after studying the teaching material and analyzing students, I think the teaching aims are the foll
owings:
1. Knowledge objectives:
a) Students can know more ideas about advertisements and understand the meaning of PSAs.

b) Enable students to understand the content of the lesson.
2. Ability objectives:
a) To develop students’ reading comprehension..
b) To train the Ss’ ability of working in pairs or groups.
c) Get students to learn how to read expository writings by identifying the introduction of the subject, the supporting details and the conclusion.
3. Emotion or moral objectives:
a) Students should know that it is wise for people to make sure the advertisements are telling the truth.
b) Develop students’ consciousness of good co-operation and proper competition.
Now, let’s come to the important and difficult points.
4. Important points:
Help students understand the text well and improve their reading ability.
5. Difficult points:
a) Learn how to read an expository writing.
b) How to get students to express their ideas on advertisements freely and learn to be smart about what things to buy.
That’s all for Part 1, next I will show you Part 2.
Part 2 Analysis of students
a) Through several years of English study, students have a certain ability to read. Most of them can express themselves freely and their communicative ability has also been improved.
b) The students talked a lot in the first period of the unit and most of them were interested in this topic. Meanwhile they have searched for some information about advertisements before class. So they are ready to read the text and could understand it well.
Part 3 Teaching Methods and Teaching Aids
Well, how to achieve the teaching objectives better, how to stress the important points and break through the difficult points? One of the keys is to make use of proper teaching methods and teaching aids. So in this lesson I’ll mainly use brainstorming to arouse students’ learning interest and imagination, skimming and scanning to practise students’ reading ability, group work to express themselves freely and cooperate with others, and personal presentation to develop their ability of utilizing the English language.
(According to the modern social communication teaching theories(现代社会交际教学理论), I adopt the TSA method(情景教学) and TBLT method (语言任务教学)in my teaching, namely Total Situational Action and Task-based Language Teaching. The former is a “scene — activity” teaching method .It establishes a real scene and the interaction between the teacher and the Ss . The latter offers the Ss an opportunity to complete the tasks in which Ss use language to achieve a specific outcome. )
During the teaching process, I may make use of blackboard, some chalks and a tape-recorder. At the same time, with the help of multimedia computer, the efficiency of the class will be greatly improved. And it can also develop the Ss creativity in learning English.
Part 3 Studying Methods:
Teaching Procedures:
Step 1 Greetings and Revision
Greet students and check the homework to get the more ideas about advertisements.
Step 2 Lead-in
Show students some pictures.
Step 3 Reading strategy
Ask students to think about what learning strategies they have learnt before. They may say they have learnt the skimming and scanning, and how to read a play. Then tell them what we are going to read today is an expository writing. Get them to read the Reading Strategy on page 3 and find how many parts does an expository writing contain?
