Teaching Aim:
1.To learn what is a theme park and read about different theme parks in the world.
2.To learn the language features of an introduction to a park.
3.To learn to write an introduction.
Teaching methods
1. Before reading , the teacher can lead the students to predict the content of the passage from the title and the pictures attached to it.
2. During reading, the teacher uses mind map to help the students learn the structure and better understand each paragraph. Then use some pictures to help the students understand the difficult words in the passage.
3. Before writing, the teacher gives the students some pictueres and instructions to broaden their minds.
4.After writing, ask the students to exchange their draft and improve their writing.
Teaching difficulties and points
1.To enable the students to use correct language to describe their own parks.
2.To enable the students to use different adjs,verb-ing forms and if clauses in their writing.
Teaching procedures
Step 1 Lead in
T: Up to now, What parks have we learned in this Unit? Have you ever been to any of these parks? If not, what kind of parks have you been to? What is its name? Where is it? What can one do or see there?
Then the teacher says thsese are some common parks.Today we will read about another parks.
Step 2 Pre-reading
T:Look at the title of the text
1.What do you think is a theme park?
2.What is the meaning of the title “Theme Parks – Fun and more than fun”?
