泥浆闸阀分为钢芯泥浆和胶芯泥浆闸阀两种，主要用于石油，天然气开采中的钻井泥浆管汇切断介质使用，也可用于石油化工以及其他工业性的高压管汇使用。泥浆阀，属于高压阀门技术领域。该阀包括有进、出液端的阀体，阀体的进、出液端之间的阀座中装有平板闸板，平板闸板的上端与阀杆衔接，所述阀杆与手轮通过螺纹副连接，其改进之处在于：阀座由包覆橡胶的两圆环内骨架及支撑环构成通道，其水平截面呈长轴与液流方向一致的椭圆形，嵌装在阀体进、出液端之间的盲孔中，包覆橡胶的两圆环内骨架之间留有宽度小于平板闸板厚度的圆弧槽。由于椭圆形截面的阀座与阀体上的盲孔形成过盈配合，减少与阀体大面积过赢，因此产生了理想的密封效果，而阀座中的圆环内骨架则长期保持着阀座的基本形状，使其具有足够的使用寿命。泥浆闸阀主要用于油矿井泥浆循环系统设备,用于控制泥浆流通与关闭,连接型式为梯形螺纹连接,LCSG螺纹连接,焊接式连接,刚性强,安全可靠,阀座与闸板平行式弹性密封,密封效果好,开启方便.

钢芯泥浆闸阀属平行式单闸板闸阀，靠金属闸板及阀座形成密封，其闸板，阀座表面喷焊耐磨硬质合金，弹性原件采用特殊材料，使该阀具有密封性好，其工作表面既抗腐蚀有耐磨的特点，以保证在高压介质下能很好地工作。　胶芯泥浆闸阀其橡胶阀座中夹有金属物，比较耐用，尤其在输送介质有沙粒的情况下适用。
