一、时间状语从句
（一）引导时间状语从句的连词：
When we lived together, we often helped each other.
After he went abroad, his family never heard from him.
It was a long time before everything returned to normal.
She did the house chores while she watched TV.
As time goes by, he reluctantly gave up the hope of finding his missing son.
I’ll tell him as soon as he arrives.
We haven’t heard from him since he left.
Whenever mother went to town, she brought us some candies.
Every time he passes by the lake, he’ll think of his childhood.
He aged a lot the last time I saw him.
The moment he heard of the accident, he came at once.
They told me the news immediately they heard of it.
I had no sooner gone to bed than the door bell rang.

（二）注意：
1.when, as, while 用法区别
1）表示主句动作发生在从句动作过程中时，when, as, while都可以。此时，从句动作为延续性动词，且多用进行时。主句用一般时或进行时。 He entered the room when/while/as the meeting was going on.
生产数据采集When/While he was a child, he lived in the countryside.
真空吸砂机When/While/As my mother was cooking, I was watching TV.
2）When还可以表示主从动作先后发生，或当从句动作为短暂性动词时。如：
When I got to the cinema, the film had begun. (从句动作为短暂性动词, 不能用While 和as)
When she comes, I shall tell her to wait for you. (从句动作为短暂性动词, 不能用While 和as)
When I got to the station, it was raining hard. (从句动作为短暂性动词, 不能用While 和as)
When he opened the door, he saw her crying. (表示主从动作先后发生, 不能用While 和as)
3）as 表示的动作与主句动作同时发生，具有瞬间和延续的含义。在表示“当……的时候”，往往可以和when互换，但它通常表示动作发生的过程，而不表示状态。在表示“随着…
…”或“一边……一边……”的意思时，要用as。如：
As I was getting on the bus, someone called me.
As I was playing basketball, I was listening to music.
As I was having dinner, I was watching TV.
Just as Mr. Wang reached the post office, she discovered she had left the letter at home.
As he was a child, he lived in the countryside. (？)
4）while 意为“当……的时候”，常表示一段较长的时间或一个过程，强调主句的动作与从句的动作或状态是同时发生的。如：
While I washed the vegetables, he chopped the meat.
The bomb exploded while the plane was taking off.
2.when 除了有“当…的时候”的意思外，还有“突然”的意思，常用于以下句型：
was /were doing + when … (正在做……突然间……)
be about to … +when … (正要做……突然间……)
hadn’t done … +when …(还没……就突然……)
We were having a meeting when a stranger rushed in. 我们正在开会，突然一个陌生人闯了进来。 He was about to leave when the telephone rang. 他正要离开，突然电话响了。
物理除垢He had not fallen asleep when the teacher called him. 他还没睡着，老师就把他叫醒了。
3.while 还可以做并列连词，表示对比。可译为“...而…”, “…但是…”
I am fond of English while he likes maths.
While I admit that the problem is difficult, I don’t think that they can’t be solved. 尽管我承认那个问题是难的，但我不认为他们不能解决。
4.whenever指的是“任何一个不具体的时间”
He comes to me whenever I need help.
Whenever she meets with difficulty, she complains a lot. 每当她遇到困难，她抱怨很多。
5.before 和after 表示的是两个时间或两个事件之间的先后关系。可以主从句一个为过去完成时，一个为一般过去时，也可以主从句均为一般过去时。
They had got everything ready before I arrived. (主先从后)
After he had worked in the factory for ten years, he went abroad. （主后从先）
He arrived after the game started.
She did not understand me before I explained it to her.
6.before的一些常用句型。
It was / seemed +段时 +before + 一般过去时 （过了……就发生了……）
塑料拖把头It will be / may be/ won’t be / can’t be +段时 +before + 一般现在时
A had done… before Ｂ could do… Ｂ还没来得及做… Ａ（主句主语）就已经…
It was a long time before he came to himself. 过了好久他才苏醒过来。
It won’t be long before he comes back. 不久他就回来了。
He had rushed out before I could answer him. 我还没来得及回答他他就冲了出去。
7.no sooner…than, hardly/scarcely…when 表示“一．．．就．．．”从句用一般过去时，主句用过去完成时。如置于句首，则主句倒装。
