[Abstract] Objective To apply the portable X-ray fluorescent（ultraviolet） and laser pen in the identification of different species of confusing Chinese herbal pieces. Methods The surface or section of Chinese herbal pieces was radiated by using the portable X-ray fluorescent instrument and ultraviolet， and the different species of confusing Chinese herbal pieces were identified according to the color changes and color features of ultraviolet and infrared ray in the Chinese herbal pieces. Results The method examination procedure is easy， environmental protection， which can reach the rapid and greenly identify the Chi
