你用对“纸巾”了没有？
在英语当中，表达“纸巾”的词很多。如 tissue, ( paper ) napkin, serviette, toilet paper, facial paper, paper towel . 但这些词是有区别的，也就是说，在不同的场合用不同的“纸巾”。
一．餐巾
1. napkin ['næpkin] ：piece of paper used at meals for wiping one's lips and fingers.
例句：Clean your mouth with the napkin. 请用餐巾擦嘴。
2. serviette [,sə:vi'et] ：
a small piece of table linen that is used to wipe the mouth and to cover the lap in order to protect clothing
3. tissue ['tisju:] a soft thin (usually translucent) paper
例句：There is no napkin/tissue paper. 没有餐巾/卫生纸了。
二. 无尘黑板手巾纸 ( 一般用途，如擦脸/手，擦东西等)

四．特殊用途
1. sanitary towel= sanitary napkin 卫生巾
2. sanitary Pad 卫生护垫
例句：Do not put sanitary towel in the toilet, but use the special bag provided. 请勿将卫生巾丢在厕所内，可使用特别提供的袋子。
3. napkin / nappy /diaper 尿布
: garment consisting of a folded cloth drawn up between the legs and fastened at the waist; worn by infants to catch excrement
例句：We were willing to do everything for her, washing clothes, preparing milk, replacing nappy etc.
我们乐于为她做任何事，洗衣服，冲牛奶，换尿布。
4. oil-Absorbing Sheets 吸油纸
5. wet wipes /tissue 湿巾
这组字是指用干热的火烤熟食物。Grill与美国人用的broil是同义字，表示直接的强热快速烤熟小块食物。鱼、家禽、肉，和某些蔬菜如番茄和蘑菇都可以grill。进行grill时，每次在火上只烤食物的一面，因火力强烈，被烤的一面焦封起来，使鱼、肉能够保持原汁和他们的内在鲜味与营养价值。Grilling需要烤架，这是一个有框架的金属栅格。待烤的事物放在栅格上，热源就在栅格的上方或下方。例如：to gill a chop（炙烤排骨）. 在发明炉灶前，p612
roast的意思是用明火的热力烤熟食物，通常指烤熟一大块肉或整只牲畜或家禽。例如：toroast a pig（烤一只猪）.Roasting的过程比grilling慢；待烤的食物通常是穿在铁叉上，可以转动，使食物的所有各面轮流对着热源。现在roasting却是在烤炉内进行，利用辐射和反射热力烤熟，此外还利用盛食物烤盘所传送的热力。这种roasting比旧法迅速，但仍较grilling慢。Roast也支付把食物放在热灰，余烬或热石块等物中，放够了时间，就可以变热。它也可能指在热力之下焙干和烤脆。例如：to roast coffee（烘咖啡）;roasted peanuts（煨花生）. Bake和roast相同之处是它也指在烤炉或类似的封闭器物内用连续不断的干热烤制。在烹调方法方面，这两个字并无差别。Roast与bake热转印墨水配方之间的差别是前者差不多专指大块的肉或家

用来指人时，broil和roast的意义是感觉极热和大汗淋漓。例如：travellers broiling in the sun as they cross the desert（跨越沙漠时在太阳下挨灼人之苦的旅客）;passengersroasting in a hot car during a traffic jam（交通阻塞时灼热的汽车中热极了的乘客）.Bake可指像在日光浴中在太阳下晒黑皮肤，但通常是指暴晒过度。比较通俗的用法，roast也可指严加批评或嘲笑，可能很认真，也可能是一种善意的戏谑。例如：The captain roasted his players over their dropped catches andslowness in the field（队长嘲 笑他的队员在球场上接球失误，动作迟缓）.参阅boil，hot，question(v.)。
