“寒露”是二十四节气之第十七个节气，秋季的第五个节气。斗指戊；太阳到达黄经195°；在每年公历10月7日-9日交节。寒露，是深秋的节令，干支历戌月的起始。寒露是一个反映气候变化特征的节气。进入寒露，时有冷空气南下，昼夜温差较大，并且秋燥明显。

The traditional Chinese calendar divides a year into 24 solar

terms. Hánlù (pīnyīn), literally "cold dew", is the 17th solar term.

It begins when the Sun reaches the celestial longitude of 195°

and ends when it reaches the longitude of 210°. It more often

refers in particular to the day when the Sun is exactly at the

celestial longitude of 195°, which in the Gregorian

calendar is around October 8.传统农历将一年划分为24个节气。寒露，拼音为Hánlù ，英文为cold dew，是一年中第15个节气。它始于太阳到达黄经165°，结束于太阳到达黄经180°。它更常指的是太阳正处于黄经165°的日子，在公历中，通常在9月7日左右。中秋节大约在这个时候庆祝。Each solar term can be divided into 3 pentads.

They are: first pentad, second pentad and last pentad. Pentads

The wild geese arrive

(Geese which completed their migration in summer were

considered 'hosts', and the later-flying ones as 'guests'. This

pentad can also be interpreted as 'The geese arrive at the water's

edge'.)

雀入水为蛤

The sparrows enter the ocean and become clams

Last pentad 末候: 菊有黄华

Chrysanthemums bloom yellow

(The chrysanthemum is known as one of the few flowers to

bloom in autumn.)

As soon as Cold Dew is here, the height of the Sun continues

to lower and the temperature gradually decreases. One ancient

book says, "during the September festival, dew is cold and will

condense." At this time, the temperature is lower than that of

"White Dew", therefore, there is more dew, and the day becomes

colder. That's why this term is called "cold dew".寒露一过，太阳高度继续降低，气温逐渐下降。古书上说：“九月节，露气寒冷，将凝结也。”此时气温较“白露”时更低，露水更多，日带寒意，故名“寒露”。The day is getting shorter; the night is getting

longer; the sunlight is decreasing; the heat is slowly

receding, and the cold is gradually growing. The temperature

difference between day and night becomes large, and it is a little

cold in the morning and evening.昼渐短，夜渐长，日照减少，热气慢慢退去，寒气渐生，昼夜的温差较大，晨晚略感丝丝寒意。Temperatures drop significantly at this time. When the cold air

encounters autumn rain, the abundant water vapor in the air

soon reaches saturation, and then it turns into misty rain or fog.

When the humidity is high, there will be foggy regions formed in

many areas of China.

autumn with white clouds, red leaves and early frost. There is the

custom of appreciating maple leaves in many places. Just as a

always say that fishing in shallow water in autumn does make

sense. That’s because during the Cold Dew period,

temperatures decrease quickly and sunshine cannot reach the

deep water thoroughly. Fish all swim to shallow water areas

autumn dryness, many regions in China have the custom of

drinking chrysanthemum tea and chrysanthemum wine.

chrysanthemums and other Chinese herbs grants people long
