across和cross的用法

across和cross的用法

Across和Cross都是介词，表示“横过，穿过”的意思。但是在用法上有一定的差别。

一、Across

1. Across 表示“横跨，横穿”，有穿梭的意思。

He watched a bird flying across the sky.

他看见一只鸟横穿天空飞去。

2. Across 也表示“从一端到另一端”，主要指从一边走到另一边。

We walked across the bridge.

我们从桥上走过。

3. Across 还可表示“相互之间；相反地；彼此”。

He glanced across the table at her.

他从桌上瞥向她的方向。

The train went across the border.

火车越过了边界。

二、Cross

1. Cross表示“横越；穿过”，其用法和Across类似，也暗示穿越距离的意思。

He had to cross the river to get to the other side.

他必须要穿过河流到达另一边。

2. Cross表示“犯了（某种）错误；违反（某条）规则”。

3. Cross还可表示“在身上十字架状地刻下；把…放在十字架上”。

He crossed himself.

他在身上十字架状地刻下。
