Folk culture

Folk culture contains four main parts, for instance, Folk literature,

Folk Performing arts, Folk Arts and Folk customs and culture. Each part

has played a significant role in human history.

Folk literature, which rolls the myth, folk story, folk song and

proverbs into one, is composing the bases of the General History of the

Chinese nation. It has a far-reaching influence on people's thoughts . Take

my hometown as an example, there is a legend of Meng Jiangnu. It is said

that a wife named Meng Jiangnu, looking for her husband who built up

The Great Wall during the Qing Dynasty from thousands of miles away

but ultimately to find him dead. Then she cried for three days at the foot

of the Great Wall, which resulted in the overturn of the Great Wall ,

forcing the sovereign to make it up again. The legend spoke approvingly

of the faithful love between a spouse and criticized the tyranny of the

Qing dynasty as well.

For the Folk Performing arts, there are also several parts, such as

drama, Chinese art forms, music ,dance, martial art , acrobatics and so on ,

which derive from the long-standing history. Chinese folk drama, one of

the world three -main stream of dramatic, originated from the primitive

song and dance. It depicts a vivid picture of people's lives and reflects

their thought and customs greatly.

Besides, the folk arts are also a priceless heritage which includes

porcelain, claysculpture, jade carving, Spring Festival pictures , paper-cut

and so on. They set up a bridge between the ancient time and the modern ,

which convey the wit and diligence of our ancestors.

Last but not the least, the folk customs and culture also affect

people's lives profoundly. For instance, the Spring Festival and the

Temple affair. For me, the most important festival for me is the spring

festival, since it gives us a chance to unite once again with our beloved

one.

The Folk Culture, as the main stay of the Folk Art Treasures, has

witnessed the falls and down of the history. What's more, China , being

the only one of the four ancient countries which survived among the

waves of the time, carries a crucial responsibility in the human history.

However, though abundant in quantity, various folk cultures confronted

with extinction, especially folk customs and culture.

Although our government has pulled endless wires to protect the

Material Culture Heritage and the intangible cultural heritage, they still

face the danger of disappearing. Most of the intangible cultural heritage

are lack of inheritors, such as the classical martial arts and the spring

festival pictures.

As the future of our nation, let’s pull together to guard in the

threshold of our culture in the flow of globalization and redouble our

exertions to carry on our moral tradition .
