students how non-verbal communication, such as facial
expressions and body language, can enhance their spoken
discourse.
9. Cohesion and coherence: Assisting students in
organizing their thoughts and ideas logically, using
appropriate linking words, and structuring their speech in a
cohesive manner.
10. Cultural awareness: Raising students' awareness of
cultural differences and teaching them how to adapt their
discourse accordingly when interacting with people from
different cultures.
It's important for educators to create opportunities for
students to practice and apply these discourse skills through
role-play activities, discussions, debates, and real-life
simulations. Providing feedback and guidance on improving
their communication skills will also help students become
more confident and effective English speakers.
