4. Snakebite kills up to 140,000 people a year. A further 400,000 people suffer life-changing injuries
after being bitten by a snake. These injuries include amputation (截肢) and psychological trauma (心理创伤). At the moment, snakebite is treated using antivenom (抗蛇毒血清). People who get the
right antivenom have a very high chance of being saved.
There are about 250 types of snakes around the world that have harmful venom (毒液). The venom
