Does we should build nuclear power center?
Beginning
A huge earthquake has destroyed a large part of northeastern Japan. The earthquake has
caused people’s death and missing. It also made sorrow and grief. However, the crisis at the
Fukushima Daichi nuclear power center is the worst Japan has ever faced. firefighters and military
are risking their lives to control situation. People are full of fears about the effect of radiation.
The destruction in Japan makes people consider more about whether we should use more
nuclear energy or not. Even some ones say that the earthquake which makes thousands of people
have no shelter and eventually brings the tsunami is caused by false starting Fukushima Dai-Ichi
Nuclear Power Station.
Because of the earthquake occurred in Japan. The crisis of nuclear energy is mentioned again.
Some government announced they would stop nuclear energy plans until them are reconsidered.
however some developing country such as China and India will continue with plans to build nuclear
reactors. what is our opinion ? I think nuclear energy is the only choose of human to solve energy
crisis.
The earthquake happened in Japan has brought us big disaster. The influence of the explosions
of nuclear power station is especially serious. The damage caused by natural disaster might be
recovered soon, but destroy caused of the radiation will last for thousands of years. So people are
now concentrating on criticizing the nuclear energy.
Nuclear power used to be regarded as a good replacement for the age old fossil fuels for various
advantages that it has over the other sources of energy. But the earthquake in Japan and the
subsequent loss of control over nuclear reactors at the Fukushima power plant teach us a lesson.
Nuclear energy also comes with its share of risks. When we determine whether this source of energy
is efficient for development of power or not, the advantages and disadvantages of nuclear energy
need to be taken into consideration.
With the rapid development of the world, many countries have to face the shortage of energy. To
solve this problem, most of them have been focusing on researching new energies. Then nuclear
power stations have come out in succession. Nuclear power had been considered to be a kind of
safe and efficient energy until the accident of Chernobyl happened. And this time, the earthquake in
Japan, once again sounded the alarm to us. Some so-called “experts” were very quick to claim that
we should abandon nuclear power for its great threat. But I just can’t go along with the idea.
With the global warming issues that are surrounding us and the desire to find a solution to the
energy crisis, the use of nuclear has an ability to solve many problems than it will cause.
Conclusion
To sum up, the nuclear energy is not good enough. So nuclear energy is not a permanent solution to
the energy problem but a temporary one at best now. We should not stop the nuclear energy plan for
one disaster. And the nuclear power will continue to be safer and better when the designing and
maintenance of nuclear reactors are improved. At last, we should know that the long term solution to
the energy problem lies in developing technology based on renewable energy sources like wind
energy, solar energy and so on.
In a word,it takes our common efforts to develop nuclear the peaceful future, the pay-off
will be worth the sweat we shed.
What to do to avoid more accidents? I think government could fund more to scientists to research
nuclear. We couldn't only just think of using it to benefit us but also know how to deal with the
disadvantages it brings.
What we should do now is developing our technology and checking the existing nuclear power
stations to make sure they will work perfectly and safely. And we also need to develop some new
energy to make some time for the development of nuclear power and to make more solutions to
solve the energy problem.
Argument: for
Compared with the old fossil fuels, nuclear energy has a lot of advantages. The advantages of
nuclear power are as follows.
Huge benefit it brings is also undeniable.
it is a highly profitable and beneficial source of energy.
Energy crisis urges us to find an alternative energy, and nuclear power is a perfect choice for
relieving the crisis.
as the development of the economic, what can support our huge need of power?
nuclear energy is renewable resource which can support demand of sustainable development.
Nuclear power is capable of preventing climate change because of the less greenhouse gas
emissions than fossil fuels.
nuclear energy is a clean resource, producing no carbon gases.
Coal and oil burning plants pollute the air. Well-operated nuclear power plants do not release
contaminants into the environment.
The production of nuclear power does not release carbon dioxide into the atmosphere and
hence does not contribute to global warming.
An obvious advantage of nuclear is that the process of running a nuclear power plant generates
virtually no CO2.
But as we know 99% of nuclear waste can be safely recycled. And the nuclear energy is a kind
of clear energy which would not do harm to our environments.
a small amount of uranium can generate large amount of energy.
because of small volume, it's convenient for transport and storage.
Nuclear power plants need less fuel than ones which burn fossil fuels. One ton of uranium
produces more energy than is produced by several million tons of coal or several million barrels of
oil.
the operating costs of a nuclear reactor are relatively low.
One reason is that the Earth has limited supplies of coal and oil. Someday it will be worn out.
But nuclear power plants could still produce electricity after coal and oil become scarce.
nuclear technology for the production of energy is very different than that of the production of
nuclear bombs. It is one thing to develop nuclear energy, it is quite another to make a bomb in a
nuclear energy plant.
It is undeniable that nuclear reactors also have waste disposal problems and nuclear
explosions produce radiation . What should we do is not stop it, but make it under control.
It is sure that nuclear power is dangerous, and we have to be very careful to use it. But what
about other kinds of power, are they one hundred percent safe? The answer is absolutely not.
Thermal power stations also may cause great accident if we use it in a wrong way, so do hydropower
stations. We can’t put an end to something casually for its shortcoming
We shouldn’t give up eating for fear of choking, should we?
Argument: against
Nowadays more and more critics are inclined to opposite to build nuclear power center. They
say that it is too dangerous, and once there is an accident no one can afford it. Every accident is
beyond retrieval.
Nuclear energy also comes at a price. The problems and disadvantages of using nuclear energy
should be considered by us.
Firstly, the waste which is produced by nuclear power plant is highly radioactive. It is very
dangerous to the environment as well as human health, and remains for thousands of years.
Radioactive waste is a serious unresolved issue.
Secondly, the nuclear power plant is very dangerous when some accidents and disasters
happen.
Thirdly, the radioactive fuel sources like other fuels will be exhausted one day.
nuclear energy is too costly and dangerous to be worth further expansion.
It will make lots of radioactive material if it leaked out. Once it makes contact with people,
possibly, it will cause lots of people into death. With wind, it will also have impact to environment and
the nearby countries.
there are many negative aspects of nuclear energy such as radiation risks, long construction
process.
As is known to all, nuclear energy is a clean resource, producing no carbon gases. But the
radioactive wastes is serious unresolved issue. If the nuclear fuel leaks, it will release a large amount
of radiation. The pollution caused by nuclear fuel leakage is more serious than conventional energy
resources. The nuclear disaster in Japan is the best evidence.
Though the nuclear energy is relatively clean, is it the only solution to the energy shortage?
Perhaps our government should reconsider the energy polity before building more nuclear reactors.
Others like wind energy source, solar energy and geothermal energy may be a good choice. With the
development of the science, it must have more ways to solve the energy shortage.
My opinion on nuclear energy
