In life and study, there are always setbacks, big and small.

Whenever the storm comes, my mother always accompanies me with

her warm smile, inspires me, gives me solace and strength.

When I was a child, I had a brief period of deafness due to

recurring attacks of otitis media resulting in moderate deafness. For

about six months, I had to go to the hospital every day to receive

massages. Leaving the happy kindergarten and the familiar children

behind, I became sullen and unhappy. As a young child, I did not know

what it meant to be lonely, but the silence in my ears made me

extremely irritable. At this time, my mother always came gently into the

room and gently placed a stack of picture books in front of me. With a

warm smile on her face, she led me into a colorful world of pictures. In

addition to reading picture books with me, my mother also taught me

to draw. Living in a silent world, with my mother's patient and gentle

companionship, I gradually forgot about loneliness and no longer felt

dull.

As far as I can remember, no matter what happened, my

mother always had a smile on her face. This smile, which has never

changed, makes my heart feel warm as spring even in the cold winter.

I remember the days two years ago when I was buried in an

abyss of pain after failing the midterm exam. The first time I found out

the score of the exam. That day, I locked myself in my room, silent and

tearless. It seemed that fate had played a big joke on me, but I couldn't

afford it, and three years of hard work seemed to have gone to waste.

God was so unfair to me, giving me deafness at a young age and failure

in the midterm. I couldn't get rid of the pain of failure and couldn't find

a way to relieve it, so I was at a low point emotionally. When I entered

high school, I would avoid my former classmates; I would become

anxious whenever exams came; and my writing, which I had always

enjoyed, became gray, obscure and even depressed. My mother did not

disappoint me as I expected, nor did she get angry or reproachful, but

still smiled at me as she always did. She always tried to talk to me, and

after being rejected, she wrote to me, one letter after another. On

weekends or holidays, my mother always found ways to walk and talk

with me, go to the park for picnics, or go out on trips. Instead of piles of

teaching materials, my desk and bed were decorated with literature

books carefully selected for me by my mother. With my mother's

thoughtful companionship and careful guidance, my anxious heart

slowly relaxed and my studies gradually became easier and more

enjoyable.

When I was in the most pain, it was my mother who made me

feel the warmth of family and let me appreciate the colorfulness of life.

As far as I can remember, no matter whether I succeeded or failed, my

mother's smile never changed in my face. This smile allowed me to find

confidence and courage even in the darkest times of my life.

Growing up, my mother's smile has always been with me and

will continue to be with me. This smile has changed my mentality, my

character, and my life.
