英语小故事两分钟：面包房里的猫

Mrs Jones opened a bakery. She gets up early everyday to the stove, bake bread.

People are very fond of her in a small town in the sweet bread. Mrs Jones kept a cat,

named mogget. Mogget also got up very early every day, it had all the mice out of the

bakery. It is like to go to the river to catch fish to eat.

One day, it was raining hard, mogget squat down to catch fish in the river. It came

back home, for the nine big sneeze. “Oh, mogget, you catch a cold?” Mrs Jones

hurriedly mogget hair dry with a towel, give it drank some milk and yeast, let it sit by

the fire. Mrs Jones touched mogget, let it have a good stay at home, their umbrellas

went out shopping.

But, you guess mogget what happened? The yeast mogget hair up! It sleep in the

warm hearth, bulging is bigger and bigger. At first it bulging like a sheep. Slowly, it

bulging like a donkey. Later, it bulging like a horse. Later, it bulging like a big hippo,

all quick to Mrs Jones’s house burst.

Mrs Jones at home, exclaimed: “oh my god, what happened to my house?” I saw

the house up, crooked. Out the kitchen window bulky cat beard, out door in cat’s tail,

the cat come out from the window on both sides of the ear. “Meow!” Mogget, waking

up with a stretch. Thus, the whole house is falling down. The town of the National

People’s Congress was taken aback. “Oh, mogget!” Mrs Jones exclaimed, “look at

what you do?”

The townspeople to Mrs Jones move to town hall, because everyone likes her very

much and her bread. But they don’t allow mogget to live. The mayor said: “if mogget

endlessly long? Or let it go to the mountain.” Mrs Jones said: “mogget was a gentle cat,

it won’t hurt. It rained so much, call it where to?” But people still don’t agree. Poor

mogget was away. Mrs Jones is so sad, it’s in the town hall and the tears flow into, the

dough become soft and salty.

Mogget into the valley, it is almost a whale. It ran to the river to catch fish, the

river is blocked. The rain, the greater the mogget suddenly heard roar, above the valley

琼斯太太开了一家面包房。她每天很早起来生炉子，烤面包。小镇上的人都很喜欢她的甜面包。琼斯太太养了一只猫，叫莫格。莫格每天也起得很早，它把所有的老鼠都赶出面包房去。它还喜欢到河里去抓鱼吃。

一天，雨下得很大，莫格蹲在河里抓鱼。它回到家里，一连打了九个大喷嚏。“哎呀，莫格，你着凉了吧？”琼斯太太赶紧用毛巾把莫格的毛擦干，给它喝了一点掺着酵母的牛奶，让它在火炉边坐着。琼斯太太摸了摸莫格，让它好好待在家里，自己打着伞上街买东西去了。

可是，你猜猜莫格出了什么事？酵母把莫格发起来了！它在温暖的火炉边打瞌睡时，身子胀得越来越大。起初它胀得像一只绵羊。慢慢的，它胀得像一头驴子。后来，它胀得像一匹马。再后来，它胀得像一头大河马，都快把琼斯太太的房子胀破了。

琼斯太太回家一看，惊叫起来：“天哪，我的房子怎么了？”只见整座房子都膨胀起来，歪七扭八的。厨房窗户里伸出粗大的猫胡子，大门里伸出猫尾巴，猫耳朵从两边的窗户里伸出来。“喵！”莫格睡醒了，伸了一个懒腰。这么一来，整座房子都塌了。小镇的人大吃了一惊。“哎呀，莫格！”琼斯太太叫起来，“看看你干了些什么？”

镇上的人让琼斯太太搬到镇公所去住，因为大家都非常喜欢她和她的面包。但是他们不让莫格去住。镇长说：“要是莫格没完没了地长怎么办？还是让它到山上去住吧！”琼斯太太说：“莫格是一只温和的猫，它不会伤人。雨下得这么大，叫它上哪儿去呢？”可人们还是不答应。可怜的莫格被赶走了。琼斯太太伤心极了，它在镇公所和面时，眼泪流进去，面团变得又软又咸。

莫格走进山谷，它几乎有鲸鱼那么大了。它跑到河里去捉鱼，把河水都堵住了。雨越下越大，莫格突然听到山谷上面传来咆哮声，洪水像巨大的墙向它扑来。“我要是不把水拦住，那么好吃的鱼就会被冲走。”莫格一下子坐在山谷中间。

城里的人听到洪水的声音害怕极了。镇长说：“趁洪水还没有冲到城里，大家快跑上山去！”人们跑到山上一看，莫格在山中间坐着，它身后是一个大湖。“琼斯太太”，镇长说，“你能不能叫你的猫先待在那儿别动，好让我们修水坝。”“我试试吧。”琼斯太太说：“在它下巴底下挠挠，它就会老老实实地坐着。”

于是大家轮流用干草耙在它下巴底下挠，挠了三天三夜，莫格高兴地呜呜叫着，叫着，它的叫声掀起一个又一个巨浪，从洪水湖上滚滚而过。

这些天，镇上的工匠都在不停地修一座横跨山谷的特大水坝。人们给莫格送来了一碗碗奶油、肝、腌肉，还有巧克力！可是它吃了好多鱼，一点也不饿。

修好水坝，镇长说：“莫格是温和的猫，可以和琼斯太太住在镇公所里。”镇长还拿出一个银链子的奖章，给莫格挂在脖子上。奖章上刻着：“莫格拯救了我们的城市。”

早上，莫格到湖里去捉鱼时，警察会断绝交通，让莫格独自通行。

琼斯太太再也不给它吃酵母了，莫格已经够大了！
