Unit 7 Media

The First Period

Teaching aims:

1. To talk about newspaper, newspaper pages and introduce evening paper, morning paper,

computer paper, football paper, etc.

2. To learn the words about all kinds of newspaper and newspaper pages.

3. To introduce the paper the Ss familiar.

4. Master the important words and phrases.

Key points:

To learn how to read all kinds of newspaper and newspaper pages.

Difficult points:

I like the Sunday paper most.

It’s usually very thick and has many different parts.

Teaching Methods:

1. Listening and saying

2. Pair work and group work

Teaching aids:

Tape recorder

Procedures:

Step 1 Greetings and Lead-in

Greet the whole class.

Ask the Ss to do Warm-up.

1. Ask the Ss to say the names of the newspaper they know or they like.

2. Practice the sentence pattern: “Do you usually read__________? Yes, I do./ No, I don’t.”3. Learn the words about the names of newspaper or newspaper pages.

Step 2 Listening 1

1. Learn the new words of this part.

Notes:

2. Ask Ss to look at the pictures, and then prepare doing listening.

3. Play the tape. Ask Ss to do the match.

4. Play the tape again, and then check the answers with the whole class.

Step 3 Dialogue 1

1. Explain some important words and useful sentences. Encourage Ss to make some

sentences.

3. Play the tape and ask Ss to read after it, and then ask Ss to play the dialogue.

4. Let Ss to guess where the dialogue takes place and the relation between them.

5. Remember the following important phrases:

Step 4 Role Play 1

1. Practise the important phrases and words.

2. Ask Ss to practise the dialogue as Dialogue 1. Ask some Ss to play the dialogue in

front of the class.

3. Ask Ss to practise more about this pattern.

Step 5 Homework

1. Make a dialogue in pairs with the knowledge learnt today.

2. Copy the new words three times.

3. Recite the dialogue 1.

The Second Period

Teaching aims:

1. To talk about the famous movie.

2. To complete the dialogue with the words given in the box.

3. To master some words and phrases.

Key points:

Difficult points:

Have you heard about bird flu in Vietnam?

What have the Vietnamese done to stop the flu?

It’s reported that 32 people died.

It sounds terrible.

Procedures:

Review the important phrases learned last period.

Step 2 Listening 2

sitcom n.情景喜剧

The sitcom is funny. Many people like it.

Several famous actors will play in the sitcom. So it will be popular.

Vietnamese n.越南人

The engineer is a vietnamese.

The Vietnamese are working hard, especially the women.

A serious traffic accident happened in the street.

The student is talking with a foreigner in English.

4. Remember the following important phrases:

The Third Period

Teaching aims:

1. To learn how to talk about the Ss’ ideal occupatation

2. To talk about different names of advertisement.

3. To master some words and phrases.

Key points:

Talk about the different advertisement.

Difficult points:

We are producing an advertisement for a computer company.

What are you going to do with the ad?

We are going to put in their ideas in our design and add in some humor, too.

1. Explain the demands to write about TV shows.

When writing aboutTV shows ,be sure what they are and the reason you like.

2. Ask Ss to complete the passage according to the words given.

3. Encourage Ss to finish the task after discussion, and then check answers with

them.

Step 5 Grammar

1. 复习形容词比较级形式, 可举些规则与不规则变化的例子,目的是与本课的语法内容可以很好地衔接起来。

2. 复习形容词比较级的用法, 包括其肯定式,否定式和疑问式。

比较级需要用比较连词,表示两者之间的比较,意为“比…更 ”。

3.通过表格讲解形容词最高级的用法,要求学生掌握其肯定式,否定式和疑问式并给出例句翻译。
