far用法总结

1. 用作形容词，表示“遥远的”，通常不与具体数字连用。如：

车站离这儿有两公里远。

误：The station is two kilometers far (away) from here.

正：The station is two kilometers away from here.

2. 用作副词，可用来修饰动词、副词、介词短语、比较级、最高级、以及与 too(太)连用等。如：

Did you drive far? 你开车走了很远吗?

They didn’t walk far. 他们没有走多远。

He is far past fifty. 他大大超过了五十岁。

He worked far into the night. 他工作到深夜。

My friend lives far away [off]. 我的朋友住在很远。

【注】far 可修饰比较级或最高级，但除极个别情况外，一般不能修饰原级，如不能说

far good, far difficult 等。能受 far 修饰的原级形容词主要的有 wrong, short, different

等。如：

This edition is far different from the earlier one. 这个版本与早先那个版本大不相同。

同样地，far 修饰副词，主要用来修饰 away, off, out, back 等表示“位置”的副词，一般不用来修饰 quickly, hardly, recently等原级副词(from )。

3. 在口语或非正式文体中，far 表示场所或距离时，主要用于否定句或疑问句，很少用于肯定句。在肯定句中通常用 a long way 代之。如：

He did not walk far. 他没走很远。

(比较：He walked a long way. 他走了很远。)

Is it far from here? 从这儿去远吗?

(比较: It is a long way from here. 从这儿去很远。)

但是若 far连用了与场所有关的副词或介词短语等，或与 too, so, as…as 等词语连用时，则也可用于肯定句中。如：

The lightning was far away. 闪电很远。

They walked much too far. 他们走得太远了。

We walked as far as the church. 我们一直走到教堂。

How long/How often/How soon/How far用法

一、 how long的用法

how long有以下两个主要意思：

1. 表示多长时间，主要用来对一段时间(如three days, four

weeks 等)提问。一般与for连用，完成时态。如：

A：How long did he stay here? 他在这儿呆了多久?

B：About two weeks. 大约两个星期。

A：How long does it take to get to London from here? 从这里到伦敦要多长时间?

B：At least ten hours. 至少要10个小时。

2. how long提问单个事物本身的长短，与距离无关。表示某东

西有多长。如：

A：How long is the river? 这条河有多长？

B：About 500 km. 大约500千米。

二、 how long意为“多长”，提问事物的长度。使用时要注意与how far的区别。how far强调某两个地点之间的距离，from…to。回答时表示两地间距离的短语常见的有five kilometers（五千米）, a

few miles（数英里）, ten minutes’ walk（十分钟的步行路程）,

three hours’ ride（三小时的车程）等。在疑问句中一般会出现两个地点。

三、 how often的用法

how often 指每隔多久，主要用来对频度副词或状语(如：once a

week, three times a month 等)提问。如：

A：How often does he come here? 他(每隔)多久来一次?

B：Once a month. 每月一次。

A：How often do you visit your mother? 你多长时间看你妈妈一次?

B：Once a week. 一周一次。

三、how soon的用法

how soon 指再过多久，主要用来对表示将来的一段时间(如：in

an hour, in two weeks 等)提问。如：

A：How soon will he be back? 他要多久才回来?

B：In an hour. 1 小时以后。

A：How soon shall we know the results? 我们多久能知道结果?

B：I don’t know. 我不知道。

How far 和How long 的区别

so far用法归纳

1. 表示“到如此之距离”，可视为far的加强说明，此时可根据情况选用时态。如：

My feet are very sore from walking so far. 走了这么远的路，我的脚非常痛。

My mother lives so far away that we hardly ever see her. 我母亲住得那么远，我们很少见到她。

2. 表示“到如此之程度或范围”，根据情况选用适当时态。如：

I can only help him so far. 我只能帮他到这种程度。

3. 表示“到目前为止”“至今”（=until now），注意它所连用的时态：

(1) 若强调so far所描述的谓语动作一直持续到现在，则谓语动词用现在完成时。如：

(2) 若不强调so far所描述的谓语动作一直持续到现在，则只是侧重描述一种客观现象，则可用一般现在时（谓语动词通常为某些状态动词）。如：

So far, it is only talk. 至今还只是空谈。

This is likely to be the biggest conference so far. 这很可能是迄今为止规模最大的一次会议了。

(3) 若so far并非描述谓语动作，而是间接地说明句中的某个名词，此时的句子谓语需要具体语境来使用时态。如：

She gave us a brief resume of the project so far. 她给了我们一份该项目迄今为止的历程简介。（句中的so far间接地修饰名词the project）

The new prime minister is facing his toughest political test so far.

新首相正面临迄今为止最为严峻的政治考验。（句中的so far间接地修饰名词his toughest political test）

(4) 有时用于省略句，句子时态被隐含在语境中。如：
