In the scorching desert, one can always find sand ships passing

by in the silent night.

Sand ships are a unique feature of the desert, a kind of common

transportaion specifically used in desert areas. Most of them are made

of carpets, which can be spread out on the sand like a sailboat,

allowing people to ride on them for a long distance. Some are also

made of cloth, sheepskin and other materials according to their

preferences.

The most special thing about sand ships is that they are heading

east and west in the desert like ghosts in the middle of the night. No

one can know exactly where they are heading or what they are looking

for, except that they are travelling between the east and the west, like

the wind in the desert, blurring and disappearing in the darkness.

Although sand ships seem to be out of place in the desert, they

are an indispensable part of its ecosystem. Under such a harsh climate,

sand ships have become an important means of transportation in

some remote desert areas. It saves time, money and trouble as well as

reduce the difficulty of travelling in the desert.

In the desert night,the figure of sand ships never stops passing

by. They always representing the endless beauty and mystery of the

desert.
